Today is good.

When did "like a girl" imply a bad thing? Yes, I so appreciate companies trying to create positive change. Thanks dinahprincedaly for sharing.

I am very guilty of using "like a girl" when I'm teasing someone about sports, throwing, etc. It was always just a thing. A thing...
But they changed my mind. And I cried too. I love how the little girls were all RAWR!!! hahahha. really cute.

Oh man, I use it all the time when I'm talking about throwing toys for dogs! But yeah, I'm curbing that one.

There's that really good car commercial where the Dad is teaching his son to throw and they're just HORRIBLE! and I laughed a ton at that. Maybe we'll have to start using that one:

"you throw like the guy in the VW commercial"

I blame the feminist movement for this. We're supposed to be able to do everything that a man can do, but why? Why do I need to do things like a man? Why isn't ok to want to stay at home with kids? Why do I need to be able to do jobs men do? Why isn't ok just to be a girl anymore? There needs to be balance. My mom had this balance. She wouldn't go out and help on the farm until her "chores' were done. She was a supporter/helper, which is what is should be.

Over the years women have started doing more and more jobs that have been done by men. Have men stepped up and starting doing more jobs that women have? A lady at church told me something her mom told her as far as women ushering in church. Her mom said no we shouldn't because if we start doing it, the guys will quit and we'll have one more responsibility added to our all ready to full list. There is truth to that :)

You blame the feminist movement for this? Women/girls weren't put down for being women/girls until the feminist movement? Really? Women being told they are women/girls are incompetent at sports, at doing anything besides being a "supporter/helper," is not the result of the feminist movement. I'm sorry, I understand this is your position, and you have the right to it, of course, but it's not historically accurate (this is one of my fields of expertise).

I agree that in most cases, most men have not stepped up and filled in - for instance, in the home, etc. there is lots of research that shows that men, even in homes that both the husband and wife believe the distribution of work is equal, don't do half the work. Women are stilling doing double duty.

I'm sorry if I sound upset, I don't mean to be insulting. You are absolutely entitled to your opinion... This is personal because these are little girls I know...

this will have to be something we agree to disagree about.

Just like anything there is good and bad. Yes, women were put down and things needed to change before the feminist movement, but now I feel it's gone to far. That anything you can do I can do better thing we have going on with guys. I don't think it's worked to gain us the respect that we want/deserve. They still don't value what we do well and are more than willing to give up responsibilities to women and do less. So, why aren't we valuing all things that we girls do well whether that is being a house wife or the head of a corporation. Why do I have to have mom's at school practically apologizing for being a stay at home mom? That makes me sad! That's not because men are putting them down, but because other women don't value what they are doing.

I like the idea that when you do something 'like a girl' it is a good thing.
