How about a Movie night, but synced such that people in many locations are watching the same movie (perhaps projected where there are groups of people in the same physical location

Ahhh, we came up with almost exactly this idea at splendid frisbee around Valentine's Day. (It started with C complaining about precisely syncing up her movie date with her LTR.)

By aggregation do you mean multiple users? If so, then yep.

Of course, it was one of those passingly spontaneous 'hey, wouldn't it be cool if somebody...', not 'hey, let's do this thing'.

...or, just thinking... do you mean the movie would be available for others to watch later with multiple-text commentary inserted into the actual movie (visual or auditory)? That would probably add extra complication, vis-a-vis licensing.
