[ Meiling has chosen to dress rather practically for this event. Her outfit is comprised of several soft off-white knit layers, coupled with tan wool stockings and a pair of plain leather loafers with low heels. (She doesn't really need to tower over everyone after all.)

Her red hair has been straightened out, even including the parts that are normally braided. Those sections hang down in front of her chest, a pair of black bow barrettes causing them to dangle whenever she moves her head or spins around.

The fancier parties aren't really her thing, but this school function has a whole different air to it. She's actually excited to be here, and it's hard to find her standing still. From the snack trays, to the punch, to marveling at the decorations and skipping across the dance floor, you can catch Meiling taking it all in. ]

[Does Sakuya even have a groove thing to shake? In any case, he nods and finishes his own punch, thrift compelling him to consider trying to save the cup before realizing that's stupid and throwing it out.]

Lead the way, Meiling.

[ Meiling has enough for both of them, don't worry. (yea) ]

Okay! [ She takes that as an invitation to snatch his hand up once he's done with that cup and drag him clear to the middle of the room. Of course, she doesn't consider just how much two kids dressed top-to-bottom in white stand out, so there might be a few pairs of eyes following them on the way. ]

[Sakuya just goes along with her; fortunately her quick pace and exuberance is enough of a distraction to keep him from becoming self-conscious about the looks. He wasn't really expected to get dragged by his hands, and strides to keep up and not be pulled.

[ Meiling's steps have already fallen in line with the rhythm of the music before her shoes hit the tiles, and she turns mid-step to catch his hands again and move to dance but...

Then the music changes and she freezes. ]

...oh. [ Turns out that she has no idea how to slow dance. She gives Sakuya a sheepish sort of smile. ] Aheh?

[And Sakuya is about ready to do his best to keep up when the music changes. Oh, well... he can do this. Theoretically.]

Need me to lead? [He steps closer and takes her hands]

[ With a little laugh and nod. ] I think you'll have to, unless you want me stepping on your toes.

Well, we can't be having that.

[He smiles and pulls her close - with his mind on the dance, he's not really thinking about their proximity as he moves one of her hands to his shoulder, his own going to her waist as he starts leading.

...it's a lot easier than when he lead Remilia or Flandre, since they're actually around the same height.]

[ Meiling doesn't mind, either. How would they dance, otherwise? Arms stretched out as far as they could go? That wouldn't work. ]

See? It's not that hard...

[And unlike some of the times with Flan, he means it; she's keeping up easily enough it looks like... well, it is a slow dance.]

I wouldn't say that! But you do make it feel easy.

Hmhm, I'm glad you're enjoying it. You're a graceful partner.

[ Beaming. ] It must be all that exercise! [ Though he could just be flattering her, since this isn't really that difficult. She finds herself huddling closer without realizing it. ] Or you just make for good, sturdy support.

Hmm, you think so?

[The movement just makes him automatically snug his arm about her a little closer, sitting confortably]

Mm! I do! [ And she'll hear no argument about that; nor show any signs of protest. ] I'm glad I picked something that was still easy to move in. I saw some of the dresses the other girls are wearing and I wondered they managed to walk down to the ferry. [ Turning her head to the side, peering over his shoulder. ] I don't think I could run in those skirts, so there's no way I could dance.

It's something that takes practice, like heels, I assume.

[Assuming as far as skirts are concerned; after Halloween, he knew first hand what kind of practice was required to walk in heels]

But that's probably why not everyone sprung for the full ballroom gowns.
