Meiling pokes her head in the doorway. She is wearing her gym gear, hair braided and tucked into the folds of the hood, which is strung so tight that all one can really see is her eyes and nose. Her gym bag is hanging off of a shoulder, and takes up more space in the open doorway than the girl does, herself.

This is the look of someone who's guilty of something...

"Marisa?" Hopefully she could hear her over the music. Hopefully she wasn't being a bother...

Meiling was indeed heard over the music, though it was more the sudden arrival of a much larger figure than usual in the doorway that caught Marisa's attention at first as hyperwired as she was for such a thing. She always had to be aware...

Glancing up, the blonde with a pair of glasses on, stares at the figure. It takes her a moment to put the pieces of what she sees and the voice together. "What did you do now, China?"

"I didn't! I mean..." She reaches up to take something off of the clip on the arm-band she wore. It wasn't her Disciplinary Committee sash... no, it was a small device not unlike an MP3 player. It'll be more clear what she's doing once she steps in and carefully approaches.

"It's not working," Meiling starts, offering the other girl the combination GPS / lap-tracker / all-in-one fitness recording device. "...again."

Rolling her eyes, Marisa marks the book and sits up. Pushing her glasses up onto her forehead, she takes the device and starts looking it over.

"You're hopeless, you know? Sit down and tell me where you've been storing this thing."

"Just in my bag...." Which she drops to the floor beside the table as she sits down on her legs. "Aren't these things supposed to be rugged? It still works -- I can see it recording the data, but I can't get it to sync with my laptop."

Meiling pulls her expensive-but-tiny netbook out of the bag and... well, it's pretty scuffed up, too.

Marisa raised an eyebrow as Meiling dropped her bag and looked pointedly at it. "That right there might be half you're problem, ze. If you keep throwing your bag around like that with your electronics in it, you're just gonna keep having problems."

She sighs when she sees the state of the netbook. "You need to treat your electronics with care, ze. Like a lover. Where's the chord?" Marisa asks as she pulls the netbook over.

"But it's padded! I got it especially for that," she said as she opened it up wider to pull the AC brick out. It's padded by spare clothes, and a few small towels, but the bag itself looks like it was at least designed with some shock absorption in mind.

"Here--" Though as she hands it over, she blinks at the guru. "Huh? How am I supposed to do that?"

"Eventually even the best padding wears thin if you keep abusing it, ze."

Marisa plugged the machine in - no need to use the battery - and booted it up. She also waggled her fingers at the USB cord for the fitness device.

"And what kind of question is that? You don't mistreat your lover. You use a tender touch and take care to ensure all the drivers are up to date." It made sense to Marisa.

"You... make that sound like I've got experience," which she totally does not and she just sort of scratching at her cheek, even though she doesn't blush (much) at the prospect. Nervous habit.

"--oh, I never check that update utility thing, if that's what you mean."

"It's not a hard concept to understand, ze. Experience or not," Marisa retorted as she hooked the device to the netbook. "And if you've never bothered to update... How do you function, China?"

A couple programs opened, a download initiated and Marisa tapped her nails on the keyboard. "Your versions are incompatible. Your netbook's on an autoupdater so you probably just clicked yes when it asked you if you wanted to update your OS, but you didn't update your device's drivers to go with it."

She glanced up. "Basically, they're not talking to each other, ze."

In a rare moment of frustration, she tosses her hands up. "I don't know! You said I updated, so why didn't it update both?" Pouting a bit, she puts her hands on her ankles and rubs them. "...I don't get it. But that means I didn't break it, right?"

"Because that's not how computers work, ze." Marisa snickered a little at the display of frustration. "But yeah, it means it's not broken. It just needs its own update. Which I'm doing now."

She thought for a moment. "Okay, China, answer this. What happens when you to play football but only stretched your legs during warmup?"

Sports analogy! Finally, something that makes her eyes light up with recognition. "If I don't stretch my shoulders properly for a match my arms can get really tired." She says as she demonstrates by pulling one hand up and behind her head, touching the tops of her shoulder-blades with her fingers.

"You might think you can get away without it, but the arms are important for keeping balance and changing directions quickly." Meiling then holds the elbow up and in place for a long moment, with a quiet, satisfied sound. "And catching the ball, of course!"

"But football, overall, is a sport that focuses on the legs as it's primary tool. Don't you think that some... inexperienced players might make the mistake of not stretching their arms properly?"

Just because Marisa didn't like playing sports, it doesn't mean she didn't understand or even like some of them. And if this was what it would take to explain it in a way Meiling would understand, she'd at least try.

The red-haired girl is silent for a long moment, still stretching that arm. When she's done, she nods. "That happens a lot, actually."

"And what happens when they don't stretch both legs and arms?"

Okay, there. Driver downloaded, now to install it.
