1860s "Oriental" Fancy Dress

Michael and I had the opportunity to attend a private 19th century masquerade/fancy dress ball last weekend at Braehead Manor. It was quite possibly the loveliest ball event I have ever been to! The setting was beyond perfection, there was an exactly even amount of men and women (all eager to dance) and the food... Oh the food! Lobster salad,

That's such a lovely costume! I especially like the little shoes, with their toe-trim and wee bells - did you make them? And Michael's uniform is quite dashing, indeed!

I love it! Definitely looks like a comfortable, fun outfit to wear. Plus I love past era's fancy-dress interpretations of other times and places. (The 18thc where there's a panier under *everything* cracks me up!) And that looks like a wonderful location for a ball.
