...I think if I am ever fortunate enough to be a grandmother that I want my grandchildren to call me Gigi. I think it sounds like a lot more fun and way cuter than just grandma. Do I get to decide these kinds of things? Do I seem like a Gigi?

(It came up in a random bit of fiction I was reading and I just thought it sounded awesome).

You get to decide these things only as far as you are able to convince your child and their SO to call you that to the grandchild.

Gigi is way cooler than "Nana", so go for it. I know lots of people who informed their kids what they wanted to be called and got it. Hmmm... I wonder if I can get my friends' kids to start calling me Auntie Mame.

If all the adults refer to you as Gigi when talking to the child, then that's generally what the child will use.

I don't know that I want everyone to call me Gigi...hmmm...I have plenty of time to think about it though so we are good.
