I never thought I'd see the day where I consider switching email services, but this new change is working hard at convincing me. I'm hoping they'll have an option to go back, because I really dislike this.
I don't mind the tabs so much. But it switched on my phone, too, and it's a pain in the ass, especially since it only tells me I have new email in my "Primary" tab.
Turn off the tabs on a browser and they should go away on the phone, too. (I like the concept, but not the execution. Make it a whole lot more customizable, and I'd consider using it.)
Oh interesting. I got mine when it was still in trials so maybe it will change sometime soon. It doesn't sound like I'm going to be too enamored of it when it does. Gmail is usually pretty good about sending out notice or allowing you to try it and reverting back to the previous one for a time so it's weird that they're pulling a facebook and just dumping it on people.

See, I want it on the browser, and on the phone it's okay too - IF I GOT THE NEW MAIL ALERTS.

But, it also switched on my phone, and it doesn't tell me when I get Live Journal or Facebook alerts.
