stumbling toward the deadline

Why is it that I 1) find myself carrying around an idea for a remix for weeks, 2) eventually jot down some notes for execution etc., 3) feel all proud of myself for being well prepared.... AND THEN 4) stall out, 5) go back to the list of eligible stories 5) pick a different one and 6) write a story completely different from the one originally ( Read more... )

I whined and whined and whined, then finally picked a story and remixed in a day?

I'm hoping to finish tonight. I've got one scene left to write. My husband and daughter will go to bed at nine, and I'll have an hour and a half to work. I should have some time tomorrow afternoon, too, if I'm lucky. My husband is probably going to be my only beta reader because I'm out of time. I think the story's fairly solid. It's a question of whether or not I can stick the landing.

This is exactly where I am! Working on the last scene, hoping to stick the landing.

Haha, I don't do that every time but I got 1700 words into a remix that wasn't working and am now frantically trying to put together something for a different story.

OMG, this is my first remix, but that is EXACTLY what I did! Except for the "feeling well-prepared" part. :-) I almost changed it AGAIN after I'd written 1500 words, but decided that was ridiculous.

Doing OK, finally. Finished it, sent it to my beta and refused to think about it for a couple of days, then read it again today and actually felt like it was OK.

Good luck! YOU WILL MAKE IT.
