Sometimes I'm Really Ashamed to Be Australian

Especially when I have ignorant bigots like Bob Katter as countrymen. This wanker has been a wart on the arse of Australian politics for years but now, he's formed his own party. The Australia Party. His platform is family values and his latest campaign ad tells all of us family-orientated Aussies that it's okay to discriminate against same-sex ( Read more... )

homophobia, this is who is running the country?, sometimes i hate being an aussie

The man in the ad on here isn't in the election Eva. His bigoted half-brother is. SHAME SHAME SHAME BOB KATTER. Total fucking wanker too.

Way to stand up to him publicly though. Onya Carl.

I got that. I thought it was awesome his brother the one in the video I saw was standing up for gay rights.

His Half brother is a wanker. I thought what I saw was awesome.

Its a pity he is not up to being elected.

If this arsehole wins seats at the next election, I'm emigrating.
Same kind of scenario happened in France in 2002. A nightmare until the French decided to vote for a thief instead of a homophobic, nazi-loving guy. HUH.

Yeah. There are times where I am really horribly ashamed to be from the United States.

Why are there so many politicians who are just bad people? :(

I think most countries have one of those parties, we seem to live in a world of fear and need someone to blame, in Denmark that's the Muslims, although the moves forward to give the GLBT group the same rights as the rest of us seems to stall more often than move forward these days *sad*

I've been trying to avoid watching the Bob Katter advert but I just went and watched on youtube, so now I know.
The thing that struck me most about it was how American Bible Belt it was, that would get my back up for starters. Secondly, how bloody cheap and tawdry was it! I thought extreme right wing bible belters were well off enough to spring for some decently polished - if narrow minded - spin, but this looks like they spent ALL the money on the coffee and doughnuts.
His brother's advert on the other hand was classy and dignified. And right.
