Sometimes she smiles.
…
Lucas - he’s like that - a romantic. She never doubted that he would ultimately become a writer; and yes, she does like his books at times, but only because it was him who wrote it. She can say that his writing is powerful and deep as much as she wants, but truthfully, if it wasn’t Lucas Scott who had written these books, she would never touched them.
It isn’t her style and it isn’t her genre.
…
She drinks black coffee in the morning, strong and bitter, without any sugar or milk. She makes it herself and only for one person - for her - and she drinks one little cup every morning; that is her tradition or ritual.
Sometimes she imagines how it could have been if she would've not lived with Brooke; and she thinks then that she would've been making coffee for two and one cup would've been with two sugars - for Luke. And then she smiles, blushing, as if she’d been caught at doing something silly; and this is really silly - to think about things that will never be.
She moved on already.
…
Lucas - he’s like that - a romantic. His books can be really touching for someone, but that someone must be a romantic as well. Like Lindsey or Brooke, but not like Peyton.
…
She likes to call herself a realist, but actually she’s not a realist. She’s an idealist. She does believe in ideals, it’s just that she lives on the darker side of life and her ideals are dark too. You can say she had too much pain and tragedy in her life; experiences that she couldn't just forget and enjoy her life.
Maybe, you’ll be right.
And maybe the truth is - she and Luke only seemed to be alike. And everybody only thinks it is fate that the two of them will be together.
…
The future looks like her morning coffee for her - black and bitter.
Yet sometimes she makes two cups - and one of them is with two sugars. On those days, she smiles.
