Firstly, parentals are laaaaame.

Secondly, ugh. Times a lot. Really, school is just getting quite ridiculous.

Thirdly, I really don't think recession has anything to do it, since businesses will theoretically hire if they have a "now hiring" sign up. And of course it's not that they don't like you! They're just looking for someone with more experience. Maybe if you called and checked up on the places you applied to? I am sorry to say you may have to start at a very lame fast food job and work your way up :(

Fourthly, I completely agree. Two and a half hours is much too far away :(

On the job thing, apply now, but put as your "estimated start date" (most applications will have this) like the day after graduation or something - then you don't have to take days off in May and June and whatnot.

But yeah, not finding a job sucks. Deeeefinitely in the same boat as you :(

Hmmm. Maybe we can all meet like...halfway? In some obscure place in northern Connecticut? 'Cause then it wouldn't be as far for any of us.
