I just finished my on-air training at the radio today! awesome times. I will be added to the fill-in list to do shows for anyone who can't make their own time slot, and will get my own member card to access the station during non-office hours ( Read more... )

And what is the "Single Transferable Vote" system?

You can listen live over the internet at http://cfuv.uvic.ca! I'll be sure to let you know when I'm on.
BC-STV is a type of proportional representation. There are several MPPs for each riding rather than just one. Also, when you cast your ballot, you would rank the candidates by your order for preference, and vote for as many or as few as you want. The ridings are bigger so there are still the same overall number of seats in parliament, but with anywhere from 3 to 7 (I think) MPPs per riding. It's pretty cool!
