I know that this is not what a lot of people believe and I agree with you that the mainstream version we see of a god is horrendous. I feel like the institution of religion is a way for the people in power to control the rest of us( if we fall for it) with such lies as the seven deadly sins, etc.

It's humans that had the awesome and terrifying power to build giant machines of war and slaughter each other in the millions, and it's humans that had the power to rebuild an entire continent in the wake of such devastation. Sure, but then what's the point of believing in anything outside humanity? Humans are what we can see, and we're the ones with the power here on Earth. If I was created by somebody else, they should let me know. If they don't, I don't owe them anything.

But that is exactly the point.It is a similar argument to what we would owe a parent. We don't owe Them anything, since we didn't ask to be born. But we would have not been born without Them. Chicken vs egg.

I can see prof of Their existence everywhere, for there are to many things that are unexplainable for me not to believe in God.

However you look at it, I feel that we owe everything to ourselves, to live our lives to the fullest extent and stop things like the Jewish Holocaust.

I am not trying to convert you, and I agree with what you are saying, just that I end up with a different conclusion.

The argument against the existence of G/god from the point of evil is basically the strongest case against the omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent god monotheists preach. Luckily for polytheists like me, it still makes perfect sense, and all the monotheist's arguments for work just as well for us.

Fair enough, and I don't care enough to try to convert anybody... but if I believed in the polytheistic religions of old, I'd still set myself on a firm course against any of their bullshit despotism. I'd rather be a corpse than a pawn.

Hey! Cool, I was going to friend you, glad you beat me to it. Yeah, people can be total dicks in that community. I don't understand how they ever want to accomplish much revolutionary change if they are so happy to attack people and attempt to run them out of the community. I agree with a lot of what you say there, and I really do think a lot of it is just having an eastern European perspective to go along with anarchist theory. A few things I think I remember disagreeing with, but there's nothing wrong with disagreements. That's how better theory gets made! Unless disagreements are turned into ridiculous fucking arguments just to try to undercut your theories, like a fucking 20-comment war about bags of rice ;). Right now I'm living in Prague, but I've been traveling around Europe, and this last weekend I went to Krakow and Auschwitz.
