FAQ

After getting so many friends in only a couple of weeks and because I figured it would be much better to archive all the information and question concerning the graphics and overrides I post in this journal, I decided to finally post a FAQ section. Aditional on this post, easy copy/paste codes to promote this journal.

Hello!
I'm using your Every Day & Every Night layout (Although I'm changing a lot of it.. Heh.)
I was just wondering on if it was possible to align the links on the entry page/comment page to one line, rather having them one by one under each other. (The reply/link/delete/freeze/blabla links)

Yes, that can be arrenged. Now, if you haven't noticed, I think I specified back when I posted that layout that the custom comment page wasn't available, so that's why it looks so messy. What you need to do is to find the comment pages section of the overrides (I could email the original to you if you don't know where to find it.) and edit it to match your layout.

Yeah, I figured it had something to do with that part. Problem is that I'm not all that CSS-savvy so I don't know what to change into what. I just tried various things that I though it could be but.. nope :P

Hi, I'm using the Grey & Pink layout with IE7.
I have a Plus account, and I read the layout wasn't recommended for it, but it works just fine (I saw there was some minor problems on the comment pages, but I think I'm going to keep them not-customized).

I have two silly problems (I tried also with Free account and nothing changed, so I don't think the Plus account is the problem... or is it?):

1) I have this irrational hate for the little icon in the lj-user tag, I can't stand the mess-up with the lines (there's more space between that line and the one below), and that's why I never use it (instead I put a link and a little icon pasted from MSWord, LOL :D). I thought the one in the layout wouldn't give me this problem, but it does :\ Any way to fix it?

2) I can't set a bigger font in the posts. I thought I had to change 'font-size' under .entry, but I really am a beginner, so maybe I did something wrong :\

Thank you!

Oh well, let me tell you from now that this was one of my firsts and it's full of bugs!
still, even though I wouldn't go back and edit it to make it perfect, I don't mind explaining these things to you.

1. As for the lj-user tag I believe you reffer at the little grey user. I noticed it was slightly misplaced (very misplaced in fact haha) and even thought it now bothers me, no one had asked about it so I forgot about it. Now, to fix that you need to locate this code:

.ljuser img {
width: 0;
height: 0;
background-repeat: no-repeat;
background-color:transparent;
/* so that IE users will still see an image */
background-image: url(http://img262.imageshack.us/img262/3589/usergreybyexcentriclk2.gif);
padding: 14px 14px 0 2px ( ... )

Hiya! I'm using your layout but under my custom page, theres no area for sidebars, like I can't change or alter anything to my sidebar and it doesn't exist!

What do you mean with "theres no area for sidebars"?
The layout you picked I assume doesn't have the css codes for the sidebar (It's disabled) but there's another layout that's just the same colors and all just that it does have a sidebar. (Check again on the journal)

If you're implying that there's not a page where you can change the settings for the sidebar, please check again cause I'm pretty sure the page is under the customization settings.

If you have any other question, don't hesitate on asking.

Hi! I just started using your blue // romantic style for my LJ (although I changed the colors, which took over an hour since I'm awful with this stuff! lol). It's my first time using overrides and stuff; I've only ever used LJ already-made layouts, so forgive me if my questions are stupid ( ... )

Hi, sorry that it took me this long to reply to your question.
The problem you have can indeed be fixed, the only issue is that since you don't have that part of the code, you cannot fix it unless you get the comment pages code.
What I mean is, if you go back to the entry where you picked the overrides I specifically pointed out that the layout doesn't have custom comment pages and even if you turn the feature on, since you don't have the code, it will look awfully messy. I suggest you to turn off the feature of comment pages until I post a tutorial about how to edit those codes and such.

About your other question, you can add title and subtitle but the reason I deleted them is because the links are so big that it will look weird.
The codes are these though, just in case you want to try anyway:

.title ( ... )

It's okay that it took a few days to reply, don't worry.

I didn't realize I had the custom comment page option turned on, oops! I'm not sure exactly where I can turn it off, but I'm sure it's under one of the LJ editing things and therefore easy to do!

I've gotten used to it wihtout the title and subtitle so I think I'll probably leave it the way it is, but I may play around with it one day and see how it looks if I add them, so thanks for the code!

Thank you so much for your help! :)

I'm using this layout and it's really cute but for some reason, half my sidebar is missing. I don't even have the sidebar tab on my customise page (I am using Flexi Squares so I'm not sure why no sidebar!).

Do you know what I've done wrong?

Sorry, when I said 'this' layout, I thought I was posting in your actual pages. I meant your Grey & Pink layout. :)

I went to your lj and your layout appears to be working properly, I really don't see the problem.
