A Very Spooky House

A few weeks ago, I drove to New Berlin, NY, to see one of my favorite houses. This house, built in 1862, is a gem of "French Second Empire (Mansard) Style" architecture. Yet, it languishes, slowly rotting away, and sitting open, in the small town of New Berlin, NY.

Noooooo!! Destroying that home is a crime.
It's hard to swallow the possibility of it rotting away. What a same.

(oh well - the world is ending anyway. It'll all be lost) ... she said with tongue in cheek.

I agree, Deb, tearing it down or even letting it rot away is a crime!

A million dollars would probably do a good job of restoring the place. Every week people buy houses for that much or more that look nowhere near as handsome as this one.

It makes me very sad.

If I won the lottery, ...and was younger...

It would be an amazing place to live, too. Directly behind the house is a beautiful stretch of the Unadilla River. It would be an idyllic retreat from city life.
