So, I sucked it up and went in to register for classes today. Just half time, I decided. That way, maybe I stand half a chance of keeping up if an apocalypse happens. All I ask is that it avoids exam weeks. Is that so much?

Meanwhile, I've been patrolling around Wilkin's neighborhood on and off all week and have seen exactly nothing suspicious. No ( Read more... )

Well, having emerged from the archive section at the Sunnydale Public Library when I feel as if I have been living for God knows how many days now, Buffy's seems like a natural destination. I am slightly disappointed for my industrious search of the local nwespapers for the past few years has turned up only the occasional oddity which is probably my aging memory playing tricks on me. Maybe somebody else has turned up something more useful - I cannot believe that there is not more here than we first see. After all, this is a man who patiently wited, plotted and planned for over a century before making his move - it seems unthinkable that now, having been bested just once, he would willingly retire and live his life (and whether he is mortal or not has yet to be ascertained) as a model citizen...

I open the door when Giles knocks. The house has been oddly quiet all week, even though Willow and Tara never made that much noise, so him showing up is a welcome relief. "Hey, Giles," I say, standing aside to let him in. "What's up?"

"Apart from the fact that nothing appears to be, absolutely everything," I say, exasperatedly. "It cannot be this easy!" I proclaim as I walk through the door.

I lead him into the living room. "You, too, huh? I've been getting jack squat watching Wilkin's apartment. You'd think if he was up to something, there'd be some kind of comings or goings--I've even been over there a few times during the day." I glance at him--he seems really frustrated. "Uh, want something to drink? There's soda, or I could take a stab at making tea. Otherwise known as boiling water and handing you a tea bag."

"Yeah, I'm thinking I'll take it slow. Stake out the lobby first for a while before going up the elevator. Try to look casual, like I know someone in the building." Yeah, like I think that'll go over well.

"Are you intending taking Riley with you?" I ask - I don't offer to go myself, that may be a little conspicuous.

"I can ask, I guess. 'Course, for a guy who had classes in being sneaky, sometimes he isn't very. I was thinking incognito might be the way to go, get all dressed up and stuff." I open the fridge and reach in for a soda, then look back to see what he thinks of the plan. "Might work better alone."

"Yes, he does tend to stand out some - however did we not find the Initiative for so long?" I ask. "Oh, that's right - you did, you just ommitted to tell me," I add lightly, joking.

"I'm sure it will," I tell her, putting down the half empty cup and reminding myself to bring my own tea bags next time. "I should go," I tell her. "Good luck and let me know if you find anything."

I give him a thumbs up. "You'll be my first stop," I promise. I note his face as he pushed the tea away. Okay, what is so bad about Liptons?
