wow. Yeah, politically motivated awards to drum up patriotism are a slap in the face to both your grandfather's sacrifes as well as those of mine and everyone else who truly hung it out there or made the ultimate sacrifice.

/not a fan of what we're doing with/to our military these days...

It makes me imagine that they've set up a system of medal quotas for each branch, and that just sounds like a plot line in some throw-away episode of M.A.S.H.

Your grandfathers record is pretty spectacular. Reminds me that the word "hero" used to actually mean something.

I notice that several of your posts are topics of frustration or failure, but your wording is such that it's hilarious or engaging to read even when it's the world's shittiest thing. There's an art to being bitter, and you've nailed it when you're ranting about stuff that sucks.
