I know what you mean about the Sookie/Eric relationship being rushed. I agree with everything you said about the two of them. You made me notice these things, actually ! It's clear now that there's a new Eric. We have to get used to him. I guess things had to change since Sookie can't interact with Bill anymore

I loved this episode. I think the writers for the past two episodes have been really on their game, especially with some of the dialogue. I loved loved loved the scene at the almost end when Sookie & Eric are on the porch. That whole scene was amazing. Alex Skarsgard is so so so fantastic at transforming his character. I love him as Eric. I really loved when he switched from being serious and caring to trying to get into her house. "Oh, I'm not leaving. You're going to invite me in, so that I can protect you. Or have passionate, primal sex with you. How about both?" LOVED IT

I have read all the Sookie books. Her most recent came out at the beginning of May. You should read them. The story is so much more complex in the books and you learn a lot more because of course Charlaine Harris can tell you more through writing than the show can show you through scenes and dialogue.
I am totally in love with Alex Skarsgard. In fact, as I write this, I'm watching his HBO series that he did before True Blood called Generation Kill. It's pretty good. But I definitely like him better as Eric.
