I didn't go to no Conrunner...

...so I'm not an expert, but if you're running a con...

1. You might like to decide if programme participants are doing you a favour or the other way around. If the former, maybe actually asking them to do panels is good idea; soemting along the lines of "we'd like you to do X", as opposed to "your name is listed as being on a programme item".

And all purely hypothetical, I'm sure.

And you should definitley not go snow boarding if you are the chair. ;-)

communication breakdowns occur, it is after all just a hobby.

Although I am always grateful to see you on panels - as a punter - as you add a certain expertise and cynicism that entertains and enlightens.

Hm, I could do with another five months snowboarding, might be time to chair another con.
Absolutely just a hobby; all run on goodwill and so on. Just sometimes that seems to be taken for granted and assumed. Maybe I'm being overly picky and unlucky. It happens; just having a bit of a moan.

Thanks for the comment about panels. Only one for me this Easter. I don't really read webcomics and am completely out of touch with small press so had to give up on that one. As too "The Almost Obligatory Alan Moore Panel"; does rather show a lack of imagination, though I don't mind doing it again for a pint.

I was rather impressed with who you managed to get writing in the new Journey Planet, by the way. Not had much chance of a proper look yet.

Yes. Please do chair another con.

You are right to point out this sort of stuff, keeps people on their toes, just meant to be fun tho as well - for everyone.

I would like a panel or article on the female characters in moores work. He seems to do them well and there are quite a few really. From Halo to Tesla.

Thanks for nice remark about jp5. I would be very happy if we got a cobtribution from YOU!
Next issue is about London. Any thoughts.
Also if you do enjoy this ish - please email the gang to say so.

See you Saturday??

Chairing cons isn't really my thing. And it'd have to be the right lot of people for me to want to get too heavily involved in another one. Might happen.

London? Hm, lots of potential there I expect.
"Hidden London": Neverwhere, Un Lun Don, Borribles? (which had an edition with an intro from China M)..
which goes on to the Underground... just in films there's Deathline, Quatermass and the Pit, Bed-sitting Room, Creep...
(Though Creep makes me wonder if there's potential for something about Ken Campbell)
And staying with the underground, V for Vendetta of course.

Then there's the whole pyschogeographic lot; Sinclair and Self, spinning outwards to Moore and Ballard.
I've been thinking for years of trying to sort out a pub crawl of the London Pentagram as featured in From Hell. Maybe something from that?

Er, dunno. Random thoughts. Probably won't get anywhere.

Saturday's Picocon isn't it? Won't be there; off snowboarding early Sunday and will need to get stuff together. Have fun.

Oh, and what are they? (and do any of them involve Misty?)

I'd be so up for being on a panel on Misty/Spellbound. Indeed, on 1970s girls comics in general, not that I am casting myself as a critic or academic on them, just that I was a huge fan (and Misty clearly influenced my art, as anyone who's seen a cover of the comic would attest).
