Ok, I know this is silly and probably doesn't deserve a post, but you know me...postwhore. Kids are in the shower getting ready to go out for German food tonight so I thought I'd steal a moment on here to post about silly crap

I supposed I could get disposable contacts, then I won't have to deal with taking them out every night and cleaning them and all that crap. I tried contacts once when I was in high school, they were the nifty colored contacts that gave me bright green eyes. They were SO uncomfortable. My eyes would just NOT get used to them. I was constantly adding re-wetting drops and it always felt like I had an eyelash in my eye. I hated them. Looking back, I think they were just poorly fit, but every time I think about contacts now I remember how bad they felt and it makes me cringe to think of those things in my eyes again.
I would *definitely* suggest giving the disposables a try- coloured contacts are a horse of an entirely different, umm, colour... ;p
I have glasses but wear them infrequently because they are a pain to me - the smudges, the greasy spots on my nose, the slipping down my face, bumping into people's heads when I hug them - blech!
Contacts I can wear comfortably for the whole day - they get put in at 8 a.m. and taken out, what, 14 hours later? What's nice too, about the disposables, is that you can 'feel' when they start to get a little old, so you just grab a fresh set! And, if your eyes don't change at the same time (mine don't - the right one is more consistent than the left) you can order what you need, as opposed to having to get a whole new set of specs. Savvy? :)
Heck, get a sample set from the eye doc and just give 'em a whirl! :)
How about getting some new glasses, even if you decide to try contacts? Sometimes it is good to have a backup. But until you do either, I have to second the question about why you can't wear the ones you have ????
Personally, I think glasses can be sexy ... I like the brainy look.
It's not that I don't like wearing them. They are round tortoise shell frames and they look good with my dark eyes. They do make me look kind of nerdy and I like it. It's just that I'm so prone to lose things and I'm afraid of putting them down somewhere where I'll never find them again. So I just don't wear them at all. Makes sense, right? Heh...No, not at all, I know.
Like I said, I can function without them but it makes things clearer and easier when I wear them. Especially when driving or watching a movie or TV. Driving is when I need them the most. I can drive without them, but if I'm trying to find my way to someplace new, it's a pain in the ass to not be able to read the street signs until I get right up on them. And god help me if I'm lost! Heh....
I need to have my eyes examined again anyway; it's been three years. I should get a new pair for either a backup or make my current pair my backup. You're right about that.
