Staggering Election Day losses are not the Democratic Party's final indignity this year. At least 13 state lawmakers in five states have defected to Republican ranks since the Nov. 2 election, adding to already huge GOP gains in state legislatures. And that number could grow as next year's legislative sessions draw near.

The Thanksgiving trip was good.  Got behind two really big accidents between here and Richmond on the way down, so we had to stop for the night, but we did so in Raleigh, so we got to see dear friends in the deal.  Got home to Mom's early Thursday AM, and had a nice day.  I made the sweet potatoes, but that was pretty much it.  We did have the best ( Read more... )

Traffic does too. I heard that 1 million people are leaving DC this week for Thanksgiving, only 35K by plane. Some of the rest will be going by train and bus, of course, but a lot of them will be on the roads with us in a couple of hours when I get off work and we hop in the car to head south.
