He must have called them 'pendejo'

an old mexican man once told me that word starts a knife fight. he corrected a lot of the spanish I learned from junior high mexicans that thought it was funny to tell me 'pendejo' meant 'good buddy' etc.

Maybe one was trying to, but they were both males and had a lot of scars from fighting each other.
