Again with the tears

Jul 26, 2007 14:32

I'm back in Ontario now - with many tears shed heading to and at the airport - I MISS HOME!!! I wanted to move home in the spring of 2003 - but then I got accepted to the program and resigned myself to 4 more years in ontario......and haven't been home in 3 years, and was busy with school, and married a guy from here, and sort of forgot that I ( Read more... )

Chris & Ian are sounding even more alike in the "sometimes saying the exact right thing" and also the "taking a LOOOOOONG time to warm up to things" departments.

Sorry your goodbyes were so hard! I hope you guys are able to find a solution that works. Maybe point out that you have been away from your family for 5 years, now it's his turn to miss someone - and 5 years after that you reconsider? (By that time you'll have a baby and be SO settled in he won't want to leave, so you win.)

I feel slightly qualified to sympathize with you as my mom still lives in PR on a gorgeous lot next to the ocean. Each time I go to see her I end up weeping because that is the place I should be and it makes my insides ache to know that I have to LEAVE. We live in North Vancouver (not my choice) because that is where my husband's mom wants to live and thus she lives in our basement suite ( ... )

a five hour plane ride is in many ways closer than a nine hour drive. that really sucks to have families on either side of the country... :(

some good news though: the moh just announced that the budgets are out. so you should hear very very soon about funding. (a little birdie told me)

There are other options that are close to your mom, less expensive that Vancouver, and not 9 hours away by car.

Nanaimo is one that I thought would be mentioned but sadly it is a dirty stinky place and I cannot recommend it. That said, many of the smaller communities surrounding it are quite nice and within close ferry access of Vancouver.

If you are not moving into central Vancouver for work, there are beautiful places out in Langley that are still priced with numbers that don't make your head asplode.

As someone who has resigned herself (I'd prefer to think "decided") to rent for the forseeable future... it's not that bad! Save up and invest your money in more interesting things... you can always rent a nice place. Live where you want to live, and where you can work doing something you care about... not where you can afford a house. Otherwise we'd all move to McAssHat, Alberta, and well... then prices would go up there.
:)
Alternatively, do not take the advice of the girl living in the second most expensive city in the US who has a few drinks inside her right now ;)

My husband would keel over and die before he'd pay someone else's mortgage!!

The upshot is that we can both do what we love no matter where we live - not having work restrict our geography is a huge bonus!!

Sorry I missed you last week - was a good time had by all?
