What about Australia and/or New Zealand? It's far (so you probably wouldn't want to do the flight with young kids) and full of adventure filled possibilities?

Or, if you're going in Nov, Argentina and Patangonia (do a trip to see the icebergs cracking) it's apparently spectacular at that time of year.

Or, Thailand. You could take the trip we always planned on taking before moving out east...
