Last Thursday Hubby was fretting about us having two windows that needed an extra layer draped over them. "Do we have any old towels that we can use to cover up those two windows in our front room?"
"No. None of them are big enough. We do have some blankets that we can use."
"We do???" [Hubby is totally amazed that I would buy anything useful like

I do tend to buy the sorts of things that are most likely to make themselves useful----and it never fails to amaze my Hubby when he needs something and I tell him "wait a minute..." and I go get it for him.
A couple years ago, Hubby's chaise lounge cushions badly needed new covers. Hubby thought he'd simply BUY new cushions and then found out that how much they cost ---like somewhere over $75 to get really nice ones.
I told my Hubby: Nothing doing. I'll make you some new covers for your cushions and did using some cheap Goodwill decorating fabric that I paid $5 for.
After not quite an hour of wrestling with those cushions and that heavy fabric, I had that trio of cushions recovered. (It wasn't the prettiest cushion-making job that ever was, but it serviceable and that's all Hubby cares about.)
I made sure to tell Hubby how much that outdoor decorator fabric usually goes for too.

i pull out information like that
for my brother love being able to do it
I made pillow cases for our cushions
I need to make another set. with acrylic out door
upholstery fabric.. i'd have to go to the cities for it.
minnesota has much better availability.
think rag rugs would make a great looking cover too
but they won't last as long.

I recently found a nice brand-new (label still attached) hand-woven "rag-rug" at the Goodwill the other day. I paid $3 for it. I'm thinking I'll use it in my hall bathroom.

Edit--
I think you are right. A rag rug cover might be prettier but it wouldn't last as long as a fabric made for outdoor use. Plenty of outdoor fabric fabric seems to drift through the Goodwill store so I keep an eye out for it as well. Hobby Lobby carries it here and the prices on it are HUGE.
(I make sure Hubby KNOWS the prices of such fabric so that he won't fuss when I bring it home from the Goodwill!)

Yes ma'm!
I hate the idea of stuff going to a landfill when it might be useful.
