so far, the best suggestion was:
Check Amtrak/Greyhound, you may also want to check flying into Providence (PVD), you can get easy commuter rail service up to Boston's South Station for only a few bucks from Prov.

i'm trying this date now because i can combine a bunch of days off (hopefully):
depart toronto: march 30 (evening) or march 31
depart boston: april 04 (afternoon)
