Maybe the purpose of prayer is for us to become the answer to our prayer, and in doing so become more like Him because we have actively vested ourselves in the good that He is about.

One of my mentors used to say that we are to make our lives a prayer...

I don't know if we are to become the answers to our prayers but maybe we are to be prayers themselves... Are you saying that when we pray, ultimately, we are changed, and that is the answer to our prayers? Thus making ourselves the answer to our prayers...?
