This morning kakurowski made pumpkin spice pancakes with whipped cream ghosts, blood orange mimosas, fresh booberries and crossbones of vegetarian bacon (quite possibly the scariest part of the meal). Our soundtrack was Alice Cooper's Welcome to My Nightmare.

Here are this year's pumpkins. In order, we have Aleister Crowley ca. 1902 (see Perdurabo p. 107), Harry Potter from The Deathly Hallows, Bellatrix Lestrange from the same film, and a traditional scary pumpkin by kakurowski, inspired by the frightening evolving pumpkins on The Colbert Report. My carving last year of the Comedian from The Watchmen movie has made the list of 50 Great Geek Pumpkins, which has recently turned up on various blogs...just in time for Halloween. I think I've done better (and geekier) pumpkins, but it's nice to be listed alongside so many amazing carvings.

During the Esoteric Book Conference in Seattle last weekend, bioentropy dragged me off to Tolouse Petit, with tales of how their tables are inlaid with interesting mystical symbols, including one with Enochian letters.
