I haven't read the mission statement of the Fail Blog, but it primarily appears to be a means for prudish people to decry sexually-themed objects - in Europe, a urinating statue is a cause for tourists to hike halfway across Brussels, and generates 25% of Belgium's GDP through the sale of postcards, key rings and garden sculptures; in the Fail Blog ( Read more... )

I find it very patchy but there are some gems. (Perhaps its a victim of its success as submissions increase to a more averaged user base.)

It certainly makes entertaining reading the majority of the time, but the distinction between FAIL and WIN is usually a matter of opinion.

there are also cases when the voting system is ambiguous - e.g. this is a funny sign but hasn't (unless I'm asleep) got inherent fails, is just pointing out the FAIL of others
So high FAIL rating odd.

You're absolutely right - I saw that one, and thought it only pointed out the paraochial make-up of FAIL Blog's readership. The sign is perfectly accurate, and the need for it perfectly genuine: it's not really a 'fail' to have grown up in a society which doesn't use western toilets.
