I know how you feel. But you don't always have to follow through with something you once thought was important. People change as they grow; and the things that were once important may not really be. Having said that, maybe the grudge you once harbored is unimportant to you now. Maybe your friend grew and realized this as well. It's never too late to say sorry, even if it means swallowing your pride and looking like an ass. True friends are worth it.
