Ten Little Superheroes

Dec 05, 2011 13:23

At some point down the line, our Tuesday Crew will once again pick up our big fistfulls of d6s and start up Champions. It's going to be a stretch for some of us, as the differences between Hero 6th ed (aka, the bullet stoppers) and the Big Blue Book are pretty big. I have character ADD, and I've already got multiple ideas in my head.

Gathered together from the cosmic reaches of the universe... )

For "metal master" -- how about the disadvantage that he uses real magnetism rather than comic book physics metal telekinesis.

That would mean, for instance, repelling diamagnetic metals, attracting ordinary metals, having to work harder to affect nonmagnetic metals which don't have electricity flowing through them, etc.

Oh, come on, The Envoy's disads practically write themselves:
* He's hilariously ignorant of Earth culture, because he found the culture videos to be impossibly boring.
* He's being pursued by Enemies of the State, who want to overthrow the monarchy / conquer the kingdom from within / conquer the kingdom from without.
* His alien metabolism is dependent on trace elements that are difficult, but not impossible, to find on Earth.

You might guess that I would run #9 and YOU ARE CORRECT.

For Drawbacks, I was thinking more about "what does the character grow into" vs actual, point-giving Disads. There would definitely be another candidate for the throne looking to ruin his day.

By the way, I have pretty much decided that I am playing Kid Gloves, the Eternal Sidekick. I was a teen-aged soldier in the trenches in WWI, who volunteered for an experimental anti-gas treatment, to combat the German's use of mustard gas and its ilk. Most of the rest of the test subjects died, but for whatever genetic reason, when I was exposed to the mustard gas combined with the serum, I became better, stronger, faster. I also pretty much stopped aging. Already a decent boxer, and now possessed of super powers, I helped with the war effort. Then, after the war, I joined up with one of the super heroes of the day as his plucky sidekick. When that hero aged and retired, and I hadn't gotten any older, I just moved on and found another hero to sidekick ( ... )

#3: No. No no no no no. No.

#7: No such treaty. SHIELD-equivalent loves super-powered agents.

Well, #3 was because I've had a big Star Wars Fanboy on lately. I've ADD'ed over to Batman and Burn Notice for the moment.

And I assumed that the Enforcer was part of the CIA or some other Three Letter Agency. Maybe his origin story led to him getting burned, and it's not the powers themselves. (I'm also blowing through Burn Notice on streaming netflix like a fast blowing thing. Insomnia leads to lots of TV watching.)

Oh, and I forgot one of the really good ideas.

(11) Myth: Archeologist finds an ancient amulet. It's got shifting puzzle pieces that, if manipulated properly, multiforms him into various mythological creatures. More or less Ben 10, but with monsters instead of aliens.

If the Enforcer got booted from the DEO, I am quite sure that SHIELD would snap him up.

Well, it could be that there was some sort of frame job involved (again, I'm stealing from Burn Notice) which would make him Untouchable in the intelligence community. Maybe the Frame-r made it look like the Frame-e had done something really bad, but because of the nature of the evidence (trans "something they could never show in court") they can't just throw him in jail.

I thought of this guy because of your comments about government conspiracies.
