And this is exactly why I don't read Sanayuki normally. Because the tension in this is blatant in any type of romantic relationship they might have, and the majority of authors completely miss it. Completely unexpectedly beautiful. One of the best Sanayuki fics, scratch that, one of the best PoT fics I've ever read. The way you've captured the characterizations were flat out amazing, Yukimura in particular. It made me both wibble and snort with amusement.
I almost want to say that I want more Niou (/Yagyuu?) resolution, but the mysteriousness of that adds to the fic, I think.
And kudos for reminding me why Seiichi was one of my favorite characters at one point in time. ^.^
Oh, thank you ever so much for your comment. It's really lovely to know that you liked this one, as it's an important story to me. :) *flattered!*
*g* Of course, I know a lot more about Niou and Yagyuu here than actually made it into the story, because, well, it's not their story. Wouldn't have been the right moment, and goodness knows they've got enough stories from me in the past. (I sort of did have a possible side-story in mind as a seperate-but-same-universe thing but I haven't been writing much fanfiction for a while now. Oops.)
Exactly. As much as I wanted to know more about them, it didn't really have a place in this story.
... maybe that means you should write out their part in this universe? ^_~ Would poking encourage writing? -pokes- But if I were to pick the story I'd wish you'd work on it would be more about Seiichi or Renji in The Gentleman and the Trickster au. I read that way back when I was a new PoT fan, lurking in the background of people's ljs, too shy to comment. It was a lot fun to read and nicely written, except for the whole "... but what happened to Seiichi?!?!" thing. But maybe I should comment about that in one of those posts.
Anyway, whether you get back into fandom or not, I'm glad you wrote what you did while you were into it.
I'm still wondering why I met this fandom sooooo late, it's hard to find the good stuff like this.
This is truly beautiful. It's the most 'grown up' fanfiction I've ever read, it's truly delightful. The characterizations are genius and I have to addmit, being married myself, that this was hurtful well descripted.
