The weekend of March 14-15 was one to remember. It's not every weekend that one sings at 2  Holi functions (in 2 cities, too). Rarer yet would be a weekend where the real highlight is something else - great as the Holi celebrations in Heidelberg and Freiburg were, the biggest thing was that a paper got accepted after a lot of work. You don't see much evidence of the recession because everyone now owns a very magical piece of plastic ;-)

Arre dhat! I'm sure you can see much more evidence out there. The Euro hasn't taken a hit, but the dollar and pound have.

Plastic mein itna hee magic hota tab to kisi ko koi problem hee nahi hoti na :-p

Yay on the PhD plans shaping up nicely.

I liked Ghajini too - Aamir Khan's body (err physique) is rather droolable :))

Like I said, I thought she was lovely - that doesn't necessarily have much to do with her acting prowess :-p

But I think "uni-faceted" is a bit harsh, and hey, even Sridevi was shrill (shudders at recall of her singing in "Chandni").

i had the same thought about recession today. may be we dont feel the pinch because we are in academic settings and kinda insulated from the crisis. but i must say i have friends struggling to find work.

Well, personally I'm actually getting more money since January (actually November, because of year end bonuses), but I was talking about what I see around me - there, it might be a combo of being in academics, and Germany rather than the U.S or U.K.
