The only political entry of mine you'll ever see.

Sep 04, 2008 14:11

I deleted the entry. I had quoted someone else's LJ whose opinions I share about politics and the election in general, and mistakenly assumed that some of the more ambitious political bloggers would do like I did when reading theirs which would be respect my opinion like I've respected theirs. I don't believe in cramming my opinion down other ( Read more... )

I held my tongue and went off in the person's journal you quoted from, but I think the position of cynicism and pessimism is a cop-out and is giving up.

To sit there on a soapbox and say they're the same and neither party will change anything is bullshit. And until you've had a Democrat administration that doesn't do a damn thing - people are entitled to their opinions but the facts show otherwise.

If you want to say you're exhausted by this election and its analysis until paralysis I understand, but to be uber-cynical like Meng and state "nothing is going to change" - you're going to have people calling you out on that for what they think is you being way off.

LIke you and respect you man always, but just how it boils down to me.

Right. Which is exactly why I deleted my post. So thanks for respecting that and still coming here to post about an entry I no longer wanted to talk about it. That's it. Done. I have my opinions and you have yours, and even though I completely disagree with you at the end of the day, your entitled to your opinions. This isn't brutal honesty, this is my LJ and I clearly made this post to say DON'T come here trying to shove your opinion down my throat because if your on my flist, I respect you, and expect the same. When I make a political post, I'm giving you the go ahead to do that which again, is why I deleted it.

i don't enjoy the drama.

Exactly. Well, I don't mind it when I'm reading it on someone elses journal or in a community but I don't like to be involved and as soon as comments started turning a little hostile I was like..."NOPE! Not going there!"

man I hate how people are taking political shit way too far. Who really agrees with someone 100% in politics? It's all a matter of personal opinion on *ALL* of the issues at hand. I think at a time like this, ALL of the issues are important.
blah I wont vent in here. <3

LJ IS SRS BIZNESS!

that being said, can we at least have the hillary .gif's again? i might need to use one later :)

as far as the politics goes, you know, i've been around differing opinions a long time. my parents are opposite political parties... the relationship i was just in was with someone of the complete opposite political affiliation i was (that's not why it ended lol). not that i'm trying to say i'm a textbook example of tolerance for all opinions because lord knows i've had my moments but... people are definatley passionate about their views. especially this year. especially with what's at stake in where people believe our government should be headed. as long as ya'll vote! otherwise don't complain about the end result next year heheh.

I missed the political post, but on a related note: someone freaked out at me yesterday for not wanting to talk politics with them, because they weren't respecting my opinion. They were trying to beat me over the head with their opinion and it was upsetting, so I told them I didn't want to talk about politics with them anymore... and they proceeded to say very nasty things to me about how I'm a bad friend for forcing them to censor themselves in favor of my frail little emotions.

Yes! That's pretty much exactly what was happening here and I just didn't want to argue it (This isn't SLJ!)

and they proceeded to say very nasty things to me about how I'm a bad friend for forcing them to censor themselves in favor of my frail little emotions.
