When I was unemployed in Calgary for a year, desperately searching for work, I sent off one my strongest applications to UBC. Merely seconds after I'd faxed it did I realize that on my cover letter I had opened with 'Dir Sir'
Smooth.
P.S. I didn't get the job.

I've been submitting a lot of articles and resumes for freelance gigs. I'm almost out of work, as the full-time job I've been holding will no longer need my services by the end of this month. So...I need something to hold me over until I find another job. The freelancing thing has actually been working in my favor. Hopefully it will hold me over until I find another job. Talk about wingin' it!
By the way, "Dir Sir," isn't all THAT bad...This would be bad:
Dir Sir:

Luv,
