sf, bikes, and night time

I really like these three things but they don't seem to go that well together sometimes. If some of you are wondering why I bothered to call you at 2am on tuesday night / wednesday morning it is because my bike had its front tire (which was cable locked) liberated and I was saddened and frustrated by this and was hoping someone could pick me up ( Read more... )

option D) "Get a folding bike tire and put it in the coat check?

Alternatively figure out some way to booby trap your bike so that it shoots out razor blades at would be bike thieves (and never shoots them at you).

that does suck :(

Over the years I've gotten so tired of the "Berkeley Bike Tax" (having a bike thieved every so often in the bike theft capital of CA) that I've nearly given up ( ... )

That a-bike actually seems like an interesting idea. I would worry about hitting a pothole and eating road really hard though. The wheels are so small it seems like it would be a big danger. Do you find this or is it just something you watch out for?

An A-Bike is not an especially fast or awesome alternative, but at times, it's better than a stolen bike.

I've had 2 bikes stolen from me in less than half a year in Beijing. But my bikes are all pieces of crap that cost $20 or less. Yay cheap labor!

Awww for stolen bikes. The money is one thing but there is also the shitty feeling of having something stolen as well as the inconvenience of now being stuck somewhere.
