Most of the kids had agreed to come to sickbay with her with very little fuss, and Tina led them down corridors, into a turbolift, back out again, and then through the doors of sickbay at a brisk trot, all of them linking hands and being reminded every thirty seconds or so to "stay together, guys, okay

The fasionably late Jimmy finally makes his appearance.

It took a bit of time for Winona to finally make her way to Sickbay with Jim in her arms, but once she did, it was simply a matter of putting him on one of the empty biobeds before smiling at George slightly.

"You okay, Jimmy?"

[kirktastic]

Sickbay turned the curious kid into a silent, still one. He curled up into Winnie's shoulder, looking out with one very blue eye.

Winnie frowned slightly, rubbing his back in an effort to comfort him. "I won't let them hurt you. You just have to let go of momma and let her put you down. It'll be okay.

[kirktastic]

"I don't wanna, Momma. Please?" He whispered, looking over his shoulder as they entered in.

Everyone was staring at him.

His eyes went huge and he burrowed back into Winona, gripping her shirt hard.

She made a bit of a face at all the people staring at a boy who while technically their captain, was, at the moment, a terrified little six year old boy. She moved to kiss his hair again, stroking his hair softly as she spoke.

"I know, Jimmy. I know, but you have to. Do you want me to try to make them all go away, will that make you feel any better?"

[kirktastic]

"...why are they all staring?" He whispered, fingers clenching tighter. "Wanna go home Momma. Want Sam." There was a tiny whimper. All these people he didn't know, he didn't know where he was, Doctors wanted to look at him..

Well. Now was as good a time as any to think on her feet. "Because they've never seen you and they're just being very curious in an annoying way." She rubbed his back again making soft noises. "I know Jimmy, but you're gonna have to be here for a bit. And we'll find Sam," only in grownup form.

Her heart ached at the whimper though. "Will you do this for momma? Just sit on the bed and let them scan you? I promise I'll be right there."

[kirktastic]

"..." Silent, for a while, until he whispered, " 'Kay." If Momma was there they wouldn't hurt him.

George left Chris with doctors for a moment and wandered over to Winnie. "Hey. This Jimmy?" He smiled down at the boy.

Winnie kissed his hair again and smiled. "That's my big boy."

When they finally got to the biobed, she patted his back softly. "Come on, you gotta let go so I can set you down so the nice nurse can scan you."

She smiled at George, and nodded. "Yeah, it's Jimmy."

"Why don't you hop up there with him Win?" George asked, squeezing her shoulder. "You can even get your yearly inoculation you skipped out on at the same time. Jimmy can make sure they do it right, and hold your hand, then they can make sure he's got everything where it goes, and we can figure out sleeping arrangements."

[kirktastic]

Jimmy, little surprise, had no idea who the man was touching his Momma. "Don't touch Momma." He said defensively, glaring kiddie death at George. Was this guy a doctor?

"They can wait." Winona made a face at George as if to tell him to be quiet. "I'm going to hop up there because I want to. Because Jimmy needs some support."

The look in her eyes warned George that it might be unwise to speak, because how Jimmy was.

She smiled at Jimmy though, it was positively delightful how he was trying to protect her from George. "It's okay, Jimmy, I know who he is and no, he's not a doctor."

Tina and Christine had just about taken care of the rest of their diminutive patients by the time young Jimmy Kirk and Lenny McCoy arrived in Sickbay. Leaving Tina to take care of the young McCoy, Christine approached the Kirks.

"Hello," she said, smiling brightly. "You must be Jim." Noticing he way he was clinging to the blonde woman holding him, she smiled at her too. "And this must be your mommy."

Lenny ran over to say a quick bye to Jimmy, who was surrounded by a lot of adults now. Squeezing between them all, he managed to get close enough to Jim to say a few words.

"My parents are taking me back to their room," he said, a little breathless from the run over. "Maybe we can play before its time to go home?" he asked. "Tell your mom to call my mom, okay?" he called out, already moving away and back to his folks.

Jimmy looked to Lenny, listening quickly as his new found friend talked. He nodded, calling back, "KAY!"

That couldn't fully distract him from the blonde lady who came up to them, and he went silent as he gave her one very unhappy look. She was talking like a doctor.
