the kids had agreed to come to sickbay with her with very little fuss, and Tina led them down corridors, into a turbolift, back out again, and then through the doors of sickbay at a brisk trot, all of them linking hands and being reminded every thirty seconds or so to "stay together, guys, okay

"Now what am I going to do with you?" she asked, though she certainly wasn't expecting an answer from Pasha. "Obviously I can't leave you unattended in here."
She stood up, hoisting Pasha with her and sitting her down on the biobed. She kept one hand on the girl as she looked around to see what everyone was doing. Sickbay was still a little hectic, but kids were starting to leave with their parents or temporary guardians, and it looked like her counterpart had things under control.
Tina looked back to Pasha. "Want to stay with me for a while, Pasha?"

She nodded enthusiastically.

She lifted Pasha down from the bed and took her hand, leading her to one of the terminals at a desk against the wall, out of the way. She sat down and pulled the unresisting child onto her lap.
"I know you're probably to old for sitting on laps," she said, "but I don't know how else to keep any eye on you while I do this."
As quickly as she could, Tina typed out and sent some messages. Then she looked down at the little girl.
"Do you like to play computer games?"

She shifted on Tina’s lap, grumping slightly, six was far too old to be sitting on people’s laps. She was a big girl now, she only slept with her blankie when she had bad dreams. Even then she didn’t like to sleep with it in case the bigger children in her class found out somehow.

"Your choice," Tina said. She dared to turn her back on the girl for exactly long enough to grab another chair for herself, and then sat down next to her. She'd keep an eye on her while she played, and wait for any answers to her messages that might be forthcoming.

It wasn’t exactly the conventional choice for a six year old over painting games or ‘virtual pet’ games, however Pasha was far from a conventional six year old. For the first time since being changed into a child her attention was rapt on the screen and her focus completely on defeating the computer. The girl lightly bit on her lower lip as she concentrated.

She looked around the room, which was steadily clearing, leaving behind only those adult patients who were in sickbay for long-term healing. It seemed pretty quiet. She could probably put someone in charge with instructions to comm her if anything came up, and get Pasha out of easy reach of medical implements.
Tina remembered Christopher saying that he wanted to get lunch after being discharged. Maybe she'd see if Pasha was hungry as soon as she'd trounced her computerized opponent.

Sacrificing a knight on the second level she smirked as the computer automatically moved to defend it’s left side leaving it’s top level king ripe for pickings by her bishop. Game over. Pasha turned to Tina and smiled, proud of her achievement.

"Are you hungry? Want some lunch?"

"Lunch? Obed? Da, please." She hadn't realised that she was hungry until now, the excitement of appearing in somewhere new overruling her attention.
[Translation: Obed? = Lunchtime?]
