It was sort of a relief that Cho didn't want a big party for her birthday. Lisa hated that she thought that, because Cho certainly deserved a party, but a small gathering like this would be easier to enjoy. If there was a party, then Terry would probably be there, or he would skip it for her sake, and either way she'd end up being miserable. And being miserable didn't lend itself to the celebrations at all. She still felt a bit guilty for spending half of
Parvati and Padma's party up in her room crying. Hopefully she was far enough past that, so that there wouldn't be any crying tonight.
She reached the door to Cho's flat, and raised a hand to knock when she caught something out of the corner of her eye. When she turned, Lisa nearly jumped out of her skin: there was a large box floating near her head. It hadn't been there when she walked up. She looked around and, not seeing anyone else in the hall, grabbed it by the sides. Thankfully, it didn't lose its hovering charm when she did so, because she had a feeling it would be hard to hold onto. On top of the box was a note:
Lisa, please say hello to the box.
She raised an eyebrow, looking around again before saying, "Um, hello?"
The lid sprang open and inside was a wonderfully intricate
cake that she instantly knew Angelina had made for Cho. Lisa laughed aloud at the theatrics of it all, and she was glad to see that her friend would be there in spirit, even if she did have to work late. Hopefully Angelina would be able to stop by after the children's party she was hosting.
Closing the lid again, Lisa let the cake float next to her, her own wrapped
gift for Cho tucked under one arm, and knocked on the door.
