I don't even have the "one wank and you're out" rule anymore. Exactly for the reasons you mentioned in this post, I decided that it's best if I just stick to my flist and have faith in my friends who are awesome and sensible people.

I may join a comm or two, but I don't follow them much. And by much, I mean at all. I don't really like the LJ search engine so when I do find a comm that might, in the future, be useful I add it so my profile is some sort of placeholder for bookmarks? Heh.

Oh, God, my flist is such a beacon of sanity in a sea of wank and infuriating behavior. I'm grateful to fandom for giving me a platform to meet the most generous, amazing people, but I can't be in any fandom for a long period of time because something always happens to push me away. Sigh.

You know, I'm not sure how, but I somehow only get wank secondhand. As in people saying that there has been wank, rather than experiencing it firsthand. Maybe it's because I rarely read comments and stick to journals and only use comms for general info. Glad to hear the H50 AU is funny as I am looking forward to that. Good on you for sticking to fic that amuses you instead of getting dragged down. Fandom should be fun.

I generally try to avoid the wank, but since I made the mistake of joining the kinkmeme, I was present for the shitstorm that followed. It's impressive that it only happened after a week of the movie being out.

Ah, well maybe it's that when it comes to communities I either skim them for fics that look good, or I just get recs for specific threads. The wank's about Fassbender being some sort of an asshole, right? I think I saw something about that on someone's journal who was then like, actor does not equal character, so I feel fine participating in the fandom.

No, the wank was about the moderator of the kinkmeme banning underage fic and all the people who gave her good, solid reasons why that was dumb as hell. I just don't have the patience to wade through all of that. I'd rather read fic and make recs and just enjoy myself without dealing with stupidity.

I am so loving the fact that the Eagle fandom is wonderful and not wanky at all. It's an honest relief to be in a quiet fandom. *knocks on wood that it stays that way*
