Sorry to poke at this, but when I boil down your email, I read:

"Just write what you write. Keep your other shit out of it. I don't want anything but what I like and am used to."

He's opinionated, he has an advice column. Of course he's going to use it as a soapbox. Why do you think Judge Judy has a show?

I don't agree with him either. But hey, I just skip the article.

I have every right to write in if I don't like his column. He is one of the most blunt people out there. I'm sure he can handle it. When you have a column in a paper you have a job to entertain people. Savage Love fans read because they want to hear about kinky fetishes, funny stories, and quality advice. You can go anywhere and hear leftist political rants. Dan Savage using his column to bitch about current events instead of giving advice is the same as if you were to turn on your favorite TV show and find the cast members talking politics for an hour rather than you finding out what happens next. Yeah, I know you can just turn it off, but you have a certain responsibility to live up to your title. His title is "advice columnist". If I go to a concert I expect to hear music, and if I read an advice column I expect to see advice.

"Your advice is why we all read and write in, not your politics."

I would hope someone such as him is not blind to this.
