Chalk up another one for the Dance Exotic. Their presence in the middle of one of the CD's galvanizes the feeling of immersion in another world, like a masquerade ball scene in an old Gothic novel.
You will never be able to make everyone happy with every single album.
From one artist to the other, take my advice. Do what YOU love, and it will be brilliant. Do what you think other people want, or what you think will sell, and not only will it be mediocre, but you'll end up losing your creativity (and even your soul) in the process.
I think we have all of your albums now. Far and away, my favorite is Aether Shanties, followed by Lost Horizons. I miss the more industrial sound of some of your older albums and I'd like to hear the return of a more solid drum presence... and I guess a slightly harder sound.
Certain songs or types of songs get routinely skipped... I never listen to Victoria or Letters between a little boy and himself as an adult. I find I consistently listen to and enjoy what you're classifying as the electro swing tracks (I really like Until The Day You Die), Dance Epics (Building Steam), and the actual Airship Pirate tracks. You really sound like you're enjoying being the Captain in the latter, which makes them really fun to listen to.
Agreed - my favourite tracks are by far and away Until the Day I Die, Under the Radar and Building Steam. So Electro Swing Tracks are my favourite type, though I like them all. I also have a particular liking to The Clockyard but that is more for the lyrics.
Victoria is one of the weaker tracks but I still enjoy it.
One of the reasons I think I really enjoy Until the Day I Die is the pseudo 1920's beat in the background.
+1 to this comment. I really enjoy the diversity of your songs but the ones listed above are far and away faves. Do what you love though and your passion will translate for us all! Looking forward to whatever you have next in store.

Or, take Aether Shanties, and take Lost Horizons, then take some glue...

YOUR passion is what will make the album great.

It's hardly selling out to ask for feedback from a few loyal fans!

However, Virus is my favorite from you guys. Make of that data whatever you wish.
So looking forward to you guys in Oakland on the 7th! I'm bringing my 6 year old niece, and she's excited! :)
