Somebody take pity on me, and identify this song, a tiny snippet of which is rotating in my brain! (I figure if I listen to the whole thing, maybe it will go away? Or at least I can have a more coherent thing stuck in my head.)

The song is Mad World, various different artists have recorded it in recent times. Most notably it was in the soundtrack for the movie "Donnie Darko". I recently heard a version on Pandora by Alex Parks, which might be the one you've heard as well.
