i had a hard time not laughing. i may have scoffed. i may also have told her that when the company is rich and famous again that i wish to be duly compensated.
Too bad the raise isn't a real raise. I've been looking at the catholic school teacher pay scale. Pitiful. We need to start seriously looking into creating a line of work that will involve little actual work and lots of money. I want Pat Sajak's job. Do you think that he hates himself?
I'm adding a few little things and then waiting to Mr. Mike to read it before I send it off. I'm going to send basically the same thing to the other school with just a few little changes.
Congratulations on your review and raise, piddly as it was. Nice of your boss to let you know everyone was getting stiffed.
I got a raise of .25 once. No joke. My boss told me, straight faced "That's because the owner likes you. Most people get a nickel, a dime, but a quarter? That's respect."
The line of crap I got was wonderful -- When I worked at Hardees (hardee girls ROCK!) I got a raise to $4.45 (from 4.25). They told me I was making more at that wage b/c I still got a laundry allowance than I would be at $4.50 (no allowance). Ok, but tell that to the girl who kept rubbing it in my face that she made 5 cents an hour more than me. I eventually told her I was going to kick her ass and she left me alone. I swear, I won't forget Joanne as long as I live. She was one of those people who looked at the ceiling when talking to you.
Well, perhaps a pop review is a bit less bad than review that you get to stress over for weeks in advnace...
and glad it went ok and that she is understanding and so clearly willing to work with you to make your job one you will stay with! A small raise is a raise yes indeedy!

Sorry the raise was pitiful. But good that she made sure you knew it wasn't you.

My last company gave insulting raises. I almost turned one down, figuring if they were that strapped, they needed the paltry sum more than I did.
They never did get rich again.

I am so glad to hear that she was fair and reasonable and cool to you. You deserve it, honeybun.
It's also great that she thought it important to make it clear to you that the amount of your raise had nothing to do with your performance.
