Ok, so I'm back. It was an absolute fucking mess here. Part of our garage burned a bit, but otherwise everything is fine. Smokey, but fine. I've got a ton of cleaning to do but I'm a lot luckier than most in my neighborhood. It makes me appreciate what I've got ( Read more... )

Thank goodness you are back home! I keep seeing people on CNN in RB infront of their burned down homes.

Those are my neighbors. It's hard to imagine, but driving around there are more than 200 families without homes in my neighborhood. I've offered up my living room and we're hosting the folks whose house behind me burned. I don't know what else to do. I feel guilty. I mean, why their house and not mine? I didn't really have anything that was more special than they had.

It's amazing. I'm thankful, but at the same time I feel terrible.
