archiving guidelines

Stake a claim on any of the layouts you would be willing to archive - remembering that each of the variations will need a separate archive (so taking on 'and I believe we were friends' is the equivalent of 8)

Firstly, make a folder. Then name the folder with the number and acronym of the layout as it appears in the live preview url. For example, on a bird's strong wing would be 50_oabsw_01.

contents of file:
1. The live preview as a .html file

2. The css code for the layout (as in the one in the text box) as a .txt (text file - save a notepad/textedit file with the extension .txt)

3. The instructions for the layout as found on the layout installation page, also saved as a .txt

4. The small thumbnail screen-shot of the layout that appears on the layout installation page.

5. The large, full page preview that appears when you click the 'picture' link below the thumbnail on the layout installation page.

6. Any background or header images included in the layout, named to correspond to their position in the layout (eg. name a background image 'background', and icon background image, 'userpic' - blockquote, banner, etc)

7. A folder of all the tiny icons that appear in the Tiny Icons section of the code, also renamed to correspond to their code (eg. btn_del, userinfo, icon_private, help)

8. A folder of any tiny icons that appear in the metadata, if any do. Also renamed to correspond to position (eg.currentgroups, ljtags)

Then compress the folder. You can usually find this when you right click on the folder. If you use WinRar it might say "Add to Archive..." - on a mac click the 'Compress "FILE NAME"' option (Winzip will have something similar). If using WinRar make sure you choose to save as a .zip and not a .rar - WinRar is not available easily on macs.

Upload your .zip to box.net or mediafire.com or wherever you feel comfortable uploading it to.
