Impatience and moving logistics

I told my boss this morning that I wanted to go home at the end of this semester. I wasn't really worried about how he would react, but a small part of me was scared that he'd yell at me for being unreliable and breaking my contract. I told him about sliding into debt because of massive student loan payments and low Thai salaries, and he said, " ( Read more... )

Try sublet.com? I've never had any luck there, but possibly moving into a bigger city will make it easier to find something. Good luck.. I can't even imagine how much it sucks to move across the world.

Oooh, thanks, I'll give it a try. I was hoping someone would swoop in with another real estate option.

Wow. Sounds like your boss is checked out!! I'm so glad that he took your news well (although it was a bit strange!!). You must feel a certain amount of relief having told him. Quitting a job is never fun!!

PS- I know a lady who rents out furnished apartments on a daily/weekly basis. She has a couple of them, and they are all super nice. Justin & I rented from her for 2 weeks when we initially moved back to Vancouver from San Francisco.

Her prices are a bit high, but still cheaper than a hotel... and her apartments are all in fabulous locations. I'm not sure what your budget would be, but typically she is priced around $500-$700 per week.

Here is the link to one of her Guest Houses...

Her contact info is on the 'contact' page if you're interested.

Oh, thanks so much! That's a bit out of our price range, but I may check it out anyway if nothing cheaper works out.

Wow congrtulations on quitting. I'm glad it turned out so well.

Playing the craigslist game takes a lot of patience. There's stuff there but it's a part time job of just wading through it every day like you're panning for gold in a river of pig manure. Personal contacts are a better way to go, but I often find myself out of luck and doing the walk of shame back to craigslist with a final hope in my heart. I hope your fate turns out better.

I've actually never been successful in finding a dwelling on Craigslist. It's weird, because I've had so much success with other stuff on Craigslist (mostly buying/selling things) but housing never works out. Neither do jobs, come to think of it.

yeah craigslist a shit-tier place to find jobs. But every now and then I get something totally unexpected like the illegal mascot job during the olympics. It's good if you, for the lulz, want to go out of your way to find some weird under-the-table job that is partially regrettable but ultimately a source of weird stories. Like if I never had to worry about money or anything and was just so bored that I needed a job to keep busy, then I'd go to craigslist and make a hobby of taking all the weirdest jobs. Like there was one for this turkish wrestling porn site that's run out of surrey. All I had to do was cover myself in olive oil and wrestle other caramel-moca boys on camera and they would have given me 100 bucks. Then there was this job where you had to show up to japanese restaurants in a kimono and stir this one guy's miso soup to keep it perfectly cloudly whenever he wasn't eating it. But yeah, for serious jobs I wouldn't go there.
