I caught two kids cheating during a quiz today. ( Boring account of teaching nonsense )

I hate cheaters. So much. And all the excuses like "I was just asking her for an eraser!" or "I was just checking a text from my mother!" are the reason that I now state in my syllabus and remind them before exams that they may not touch or look at phones or other electronic devices capable of communication during exams. Doing so is grounds for having their paper away. In addition, "any behavior that can reasonably be construed as cheating, such as looking toward others' paper or communicating with a classmate" is grounds for having their paper taken away and getting a zero--regardless of what they were communicating about. Yes, I come off as crazy. No, I don't care.

I don't think that comes off as crazy at all. I only wish I could implement policies like that, but if I did, I'd have classes where 75% of the kids would get zeros. And in Thailand, if your students fail, it's your fault -- you either have to give them a re-test (give them the exact same test/quiz to do over again), or, if they fail the class outright, "re-teach" them, which means giving up either your lunch break or several hours after school to essentially do unpaid private tutoring sessions just for those particular morons. It's infuriating.

It's tourist-y, but I quite enjoyed my visit to the Seoul Tower. And of course the palaces!

Oh man, I want to visit Seoul again. It has so much more life and vibrancy than Tokyo, imo.

Seoul Tower is kind of on the bubble. I'd like to see it, if only for the photo ops, but it kinda looks like it's a pain to get to.

Did you have a favourite palace? I definitely want to visit at least one of them but I'm guessing I don't have the time for all five, heh.

Hmm I don't remember it being too much of a pain. Just hopped on a bus. But I guess it depends on where you enter the city.

I only got to see the outsides of Gyeongbokgung and Changgyeonggung because they were mysteriously closed that day. But they were both cool from the outside! I think they're the most famous 2.

My buddy jevon teaches in south korea, but I don't know much more than that. He's an awesome guy - like just the kind of guy that has awesome dumps and doesn't give a single fuck about stuff not worth stressing over.
