If not just for the fact that the series has been brilliant so far, another reason to watch tomorrow night's Doctor Who, if you can, is the arrival of Captain Jack Harkness in the TARDIS. The actor who plays him, John Barrowman, will make thousands of slashers happy: ( Possibly spoilery )

What do you know? I'm not dead yet either.

I have no other comment of note to make on this post, as I haven't seen this Dr. Who of which you speak. Oh wait, there is one thing: pictures of lots of last year's event (overwhelmingly not-very-attractive males in uniform of bad haircuts and saggy-arsed jeans) isn't exactly selling it to me

That's clearly why they need to bring in ringers in the form of handsome actors.

I was going to email you this weekend just to check that your absence was work-imposed rather than something unpleasant.

I have lots on atm, mostly unpaid as yet. Have been invited (not commissioned, alas) to submit a thing for TV which is exciting and eating up my every spare available waking hour, of which there aren't many. And I signed up to do a HL fic by the end of the month -- can you look over it for me? It's presently only half-done. However, all major religious ceremonials are now over for a couple of years, thank God.

I would love to look at your HL fic. By "end of the month" do you mean May or June? We're going out of town June 24-July 16, with, in all likelihood, no internet access. And I just twigged that this means I'll be on a plane instead of rushing to the bookstore to buy HBP. I'm heartbroken, naturally.

However, all major religious ceremonials are now over for a couple of years, thank God.

Thank God indeed.

We're all fine here, by the way; I just got swamped with end of semester things. I'm still playing catch-up.

I hope the TV thing works out; that sounds potentially wonderful.

End of May. Which will mean I'll send it to you on Sunday, in all likelihood. Hope this doesn't clash too much with your worky stuff.

We're going out of town June 24-July 16, with, in all likelihood, no internet access.

I hope you're going somewhere good! I'll be in Granada that first week; so I'd better get on and book the damn thing, I've just remembered.

Err... when is it out, again? I seem to remember July from the posters I pass in Borders every second day, but I haven't been paying too much attention, either. I'll probably still go and get it early on the day it comes out, though. Just to be part of the fun/zeitgeist/whatever.
