I remember these maps from back in the day. I never had one though.

Yeah, there used to be loads of things like this on LiveJournal. I'll occasionally come across one when I'm nosing around on moribund profiles and think, 'I wonder if that still works?'

As for the visitor map, I'm still not sure if it's working. There's nothing showing up on the map I've posted above, but when I click on it and go to the page, it's showing loads of visitors, including several from Canada. Maybe the link only updates every twenty-four hours or something. We'll see.

Does it count visitors who read a journal entry? Or do those who visit your profile page?

I think it's anyone who looks at my LJ profile page or any of my journal posts, whether that be other LiveJournal users or external visitors who've come via Google or other search engines. I checked the statistics on my profile page the other day and noticed that the amount of page views was far greater than the amount of LiveJournal users who'd visited my profile, so I presume most of my views are coming from elsewhere. It's quite frustrating. I wish folk would add me on LiveJournal instead of just anonymously lurking!
